So here we are at the end of E3 week, old friends came into town, I went to a few parties and drank free drinks provided by scantily clad females and collected a bunch of business cards that will I hope convince my boss that I was there on business.

I myself was not invited to E3 and have therefore crossed the organizers off my Christmas card list. I cant say much about the success or failure of the new format but the second hand info I got was that it was little more than a press tour and as fun as a rainy day in bognor.

With the rise of sanctimonious single issue politicians hell bent on stopping me from killing people (imaginary people that are actually just pixels) in the comfort of my private dwelling this is not the time for the industry to sneak back behind the curtain and hide from the world.

But forget the politics.. if you read last years E3 article on CNN you will see it is all about the games, the technology, the success of the industry and more than anything the reaction of 60,000 game developers to the products of tomorrow.

This years E3 coverage on CNN is a bunch of quotes from people who didn’t like E32006 because there were too many of the wrong sort of people (you know, game developers) and not enough places to sit! So now the public gets to read what the PR people and industry pundits told the journalist to write.

Hooray for elitism..
