As I sit here on the 3rd floor of my apartment block and stare out the window I have a most bizarre view.. A mixture of sandstorms kicked up by the 60 MPH winds and smoke from the local fire that started last night have filled the sky with an orange cloud that is getting into my mouth and eyes. The humidity is apparently at 14% and the world is orange.
According to local news the Moorpark fire has already destroyed 13,000 acres, five homes and a warehouse. The fire teams report that the fire is 70% contained and the focus is starting to move to the Malibu fire that was started earlier today by fallen power cables. The Malibu fire has now jumped PCH and many beachfront homes are now on fire.
These buildings are true architectural masterpieces perched on the side of the road and although my first thought is for the people (and some friends) who live in the area I also hope against hope that we don’t loose too much of Malibu’s architecture today.
