The irony of this scene just ticked me when I was at AltCar over the weekend. This little car was being used to do test drives. When not in use it was being charged from a big diesel generator that was kicking up a plume of black exhaust fumes.

I know electric cars are the future, but it made me ask the question to myself, and now I ask you..

With so much of our current electricity being generated by burning coal are electric cars the best “next step” in automotive evolution or would it be better for us to go to diesel, hydrogen or natural gas for a decade as we work on cleaning up our electricity?
